Lynxes Match Reports 2018Lynxes v School for the Wybourn CupThe Lynxes won a good high scoring match due to the Russell-Vick brothers dominating the scoring, Charlie scoring 34 and Toby making a very good 75. Sam Stibbs 23 and Joe Schindler 25 were the other main contributors in a healthy total of 226. The School bowling lead by Finn Piper was good, Cobbald picked up 2 wickets and Cameron Cummings finished with a very good 4 – 20.The School were pegged back early on with Ollie Clark and Guy Schindler both taking 2 wickets. W Farmer and B Betts provided some stability in the middle order making 43 and 44 respectively, and then Freddie Hulbert (master in charge of cricket) made 29 no but with Joe Schindler coming on to pick up 4-11 the School fell just short with 209.Lynxes v Bully Boys 10/7/2018This was probably one of the best matches between the Lynxes and the Bully Boys. The rivalry between the Hulbert brothers and one or two other great contributions. Freddie played for the BBs and Finn played for the Lynxes. The BBs batted first and were in trouble early on as Finn Hulbert bowled with pace and accuracy, he was rewarded with 3 early wickets. From the other end Ben Tragett was bowling his reliable left arm over, picking up one wicket. When Jaydon picked up Ollie Clark without scoring the BBs were in serious trouble at 69 -6.Freddie Hulbert played with determination and discipline and compiled a magnificent 115 while at the other end Owen Dearn played the innings of his life, more flambouyant but to great effect as he scored his first 100. These two took the Bully Boys to a very good 305 – 8 at the close. In reply the Lynxes suffered early losses and at 65- 3 were a long way off. Finn Hulbert, not to be outdone played a brilliant innings of 146 and ably supported by the big hitting Jaydon Hoare (68) put the Lynxes in a winning position as Ben Tragett hit the winning runs. A tremendous match played in great spirit.Lynxes v Fleet Street Exiles 11/7/2018A totally different story the next day against a strong FSE team in a 40 over match. FSE won the toss and batted first and made batting look easy, the early loss of M White was not a set back as the next 3 batsmen scored 98, 66 and 44 as the FSE amassed 246 in their 40 overs.Jaydon Hoare opened and continued his big hitting, scoring a quick 60, containing 13 bounderies. Only Freddie Hulbert(20), Gary Marshall(35) and Owen Dearn(17) gave any support but that was never enough as The Lynxes innings closed at 170 after34 overs.Lynxes v Wolverines 12/7/2018Another 40 over match, becoming the preferred format for the Lynxes cricket matches.Lynxes started very well with an opening partnership of 137 between Freddie Hulbert and O Dench, Freddie fell on 67 followed shortly by Dench for 58. James Barron(20 and Finn Hulbert(56*) continued pushing the run rate towards a handsome 258 from 40 overs. The Wolverines lost their first wicket to the opening ball but recovered through Light and Harman to 52 before Harman(23) fell to Jack Barras, his first wicket for the Lynxes. Jack then struck again having Pike caught for 0 and at 65 – 3 the Wolverines were in trouble. Light continued to play well until he was bowled for 74. Only Ali Manser(36) offered any further resistance and the Wolverines finished on 153 in the 31st over. A convincing win for the Lynxes.A very enjoyable Lynxes cricket week, enjoyed by all.
