Lynxes Match Reports 2019
Lynxes v School 5/7/2019

The annual Lynxes v School match was a 40 over game.

Lynxes batted first, a very good batting performance, a good run rate with contributions from all of the Lynxes that batted. Nick Manser(10) opened looked stylish before being bowled. Matt Simpson looked as good as ever compiling a good 56. Toby Russell-Vick made 14. It was then the Schindler brothers that dominated the innings, Guy after a cautious start then dealt mainly in 4s as he scored an impressive 73 while Joe soon got into his stride and hit powerfully in a very good innings of 97*. He was ably supported at the end of the innings by a quick 31 from Owen Dearn. The Lynxes finished their 40 overs with a massive 341.

This was to prove a winning score as the School were bowled out for 175. Despite the heavy loss there were several encouraging performances from the School Team. Max Wookey bowled very steadily taking 3 Lynxes wickets and Cameron Cummings made 118 out of the 175. The Wybourn Cup was retained by the Lynxes.

Lynxes v Fleet Street Exiles 10/7/2019

After a comprehensive defeat the previous year James Barron’s Team were looking for revenge.

FSE won the toss and elected to bat. Will Huish and Ben Tragett opened the bowling and Ben got the early breakthrough. FSE steadied the innings but also lost wickets despite maintaining a reasonable run rate. Ed May became one of the youngest ever wicket takers for the Lynxes, he finished with 1-11 from 4 overs. The FSE innings was wrapped up by the gap cricket coach Matt Luksich who is playing at the Mote CC in Maidstone. Very controlled spin bowling earnt him 4-39 at the end of the FSE innings of 210.

Still a good target for the Lynxes to chase. Matt Luksich showed why he is playing at the Mote with a cultured innings of 85 which put the Lynxes well on the way to victory. 50 from G Stoker and a quick 22 from Will Goddard left W Huish and Ed May to see the Lynxes across the line with 3 overs to spare.

Lynxes v Bully Boys 12/7/2019

A hard fought 40 over match between the two sides made for a great day’s cricket. Lynxes won the toss and batted first. Matt Luksich continued his good form with a superb 130 not out. G Stoker 12, Jack Marshall19, Joe Banks 15, D Ellis 6 and Gary Marshall 32* helped post a score of 240 from our 40 overs. The Bully Boys were short of good pace bowling and the Lynxes were in a similar position, so despite a reasonable score it would not be easy to defend. With mainly spin bowling as well the lynxes pushed the Bully Boys all the way and only lost in the penultimate over. Jack Marshall was the pick of the bowlers with 3-56. For the second year the Bully Boys were indebted to a Lynx scoring his maiden century. This time Luca Bertolli Mitchel played beautifully for 102* and with Cox hittng 57* in quick time the Lynxes could not stop the inevitable. Another cracking game between the two teams.

Lynxes v Wolverines 13/7/2019

The Wolverines had struggled to get a team for this match as had the Lynxes. The teams decided on a 35 over match due to the shortage of players. Lynxes were inserted and Luca Bertolli Mitchell continued his form this time for the Lynxes and made an excellent 99. O Dearn 23, J Hornsby 28, J Pickering 57, Joe Schindler 28 and C Cox 12 not out took the Lynxes to 278 from their allotted overs.

When Joe Schindler 2-34 and Dearn and Hornsby had reduced the Wolverines to 75-3 it looked like match over. But, Nick Manser played a Captain’s innings making 72*. Wolverines were short of players and when Rob Wickham camr to ther ground it was only fair that he joined the Wolverines for the last rites. Rob did more than that he smashed the Lynxes attack in a blistering 92* to help secure an unlikely win for the Wolverines. It was a fantastic end to the Lynxes week.
